I have been looking for something bright, inspiring and a little fiery among global brands for a long time! And now, finally, my Instagram satisfied me completely when I have stumbled upon the photo from the new Chanel collection show. I have always loved this brand and admired a little freaky vision of Karl Lagerfeld. For me, his imagination – is a limit of talent, success and style. So today I want to share my inspiration and satisfaction with you.

Immediately after the loud show of Chanel Cruise 2016/2017, which was held on May 3rd in Havana, creative director Karl Lagerfeld showed a short lookbook of the new collection. Although this collection saved a couple of attributes of the Chanel fashion house classical style, new dresses, costumes and bags were something nuclear jazzy. The brightest colors of nature, strange shapes and unusual solutions - it's all about Coco Cuba. Click To Tweet
‘French fashion house Chanel brought glamour back to Communist-ruled Cuba on Tuesday in a runway show on one of Havana’s main boulevards, featuring glittering gowns, celebrity sightings, tulle cocktail dresses and models in Panama hats smoking cigars.’
All the strengths of the fashion world gathered this show – models, actors, designers, fashion critics and many others. Among the most prominent persons, which were replenished Instagram photos, were Gisele Bundchen, Suzy Menkes, Vanessa Paradis, Tilda Swinton, Vin Diesel and Emmanuelle Alt. After a triumphant automobile race of participants and show visitors on colored gigs, there passed a bright fashion show under the open sky, which ended with incendiary dances – that’s all about the new collection of Chanel, that’s all about Cuba Libre.

It seems that this time it smells like a real revolution - the fashion revolution. Click To Tweet Cuba hosted the first since the days of the Communist revolution of 1959 international fashion show – the show of Chanel cruise. And frankly, there is nothing unusual, because this fashion brand has always loved to do something extravagant and rebellious. We can just remind the appearance of a fully transparent dresses and blouses in a classic style. So we should expect a lot more from the Chanel.
Chanel show in Havana attracted the attention not only of profiled glossy media, but also the entire world community, becoming one more confirmation of the new open policy of the Cuban authorities. However, true fans of the brand were not interested in the geopolitical aspects, they were interested in the new collection of Chanel handbags. Namely bags have become one of the most important events, that everyone was waiting for. Well, also hats, because it is Chanel, ladies and gentleman!
Bags in a collection Coco Cuba combine Latin American motifs and branded elements of Chanel – tweed, chains and quilted items. In addition, Karl Lagerfeld has diversified lots of models with embroidery and bulk decor made of fringe and sequins.
Catwalk models wore knitted sweaters and crocheted backpacks, as well as products made of denim, cotton and silk. Some models of dresses and berets were manually embroidered with sequins.
Over photos, designer, as always, worked himself – the compilation includes just few images from the new collection, but they are so inspiring! Here are two-pieced tweed suits of all possible “tropical” colors, accessories made of straw, bicolored shoes (such shoes Soviet youth called “inspectors”), slippers embroidered with chains and an obvious must-have of the next cruise – the T-shirt Viva Coco Libre! I don’t know what about you, but it seems to me that the world doesn’t have yet more talented designers than Karl Lagerfeld and, of course, Marc Jacobs!
The main heroine of photoshoot Mica Arganaraz appeared in a style of a young Grand Mademoiselle – that’s how she would have looked during the holidays in Cuba. Mica has tried the new version of the legendary tweed suit in conjunction with the T-shirts, that looked like the souvenir shirts, colorful dresses with your favorite Chanel hats.
The unique scenery of architects transmitted warm and friendly atmosphere between France and Cuba as well as it possible. Stella Tennant opened the show dressed in a classic pantsuit, tailored for a men’s style. Boyish monochrome striped trousers, boot made from a spatent leather, a long black coat and a straw Trilby immediately evoke generally memories of the 30s movies.
‘Chanel is the first major fashion house to hold a runway show in Cuba, highlighting both warming relations with the West and new inequalities on the island. Virtually all residents of the capital were swept behind yellow barricades and unbroken lines of uniformed and plainclothes police at least a block away.’
It is well-known that Karl Lagerfeld has always admired the culture of Cuba and Latin America, but really he has never been in Cuba. Especially Lagerfeld loves music composition Mambo No. 5, because in his youth a professional fashion designer was tango and cha-cha-cha dancer . Therefore, the show in Cuba – is not just a presentation of the next cruise collection, but a real epoch-making event.
